Out of 17.24 crore rural households in the country, 44.4% belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC). Seven states of Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Telangana, UP, Kerala, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh have the highest number of OBC families in rural areas in the country. Also know that out of 543 Lok Sabha seats, the way to 235 seats passes through the vote bank of these villagers. These figures are again in discussion amid the demand for a caste census.

This survey came out earlier this month

According to the Indian Express report, this data has been prepared to assess the agricultural households of rural India and their condition. The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation has assessed the survey. Let us tell you that this survey has come out at the beginning of this month. This data is for the agricultural year 2018-19. We consider the agricultural year in India to be from July to June.

Tamil Nadu has the largest number of rural OBCs

If we look at the figures, 44.4% of the estimated 17.24 crore rural households were OBC. The Scheduled Castes (SC followed this) at 21.6%; 12.3% belonged to Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 21.7% belonged to other castes. Of the total rural households, 9.3 crores or 54% are agricultural households. In this sequence, Tamil Nadu has the highest number of rural OBCs (67.7%) and the lowest in Nagaland (0.2%).
