A total of 72 percent of the people surveyed in India believe that Indian Covid vaccines are safe and effective against the coronavirus. However, 60 percent of the respondents believe that Indian vaccines are at par with foreign COVID-19 vaccines.
The survey, called Public Ki Awaaz Poll, has been conducted by location-based social networking app Public to know people’s opinion about vaccine hesitancy. The poll received 9,14,164 responses to detect vaccine hesitancy. According to the survey, 8.8 percent of the respondents expressed hesitation in getting vaccinated against the virus.
As per the overall estimates, a large proportion of the respondents consider it safe to take the vaccine. Around 72 percent of people strongly agree that vaccines are safe and effective and, over 60 percent of respondents believe that Indian vaccines are at par with foreign COVID-19 vaccines. About 25 percent of the respondents said we had already been vaccinated with both doses.
According to the survey, both community and institutional incentives are necessary in this regard. Of the respondents, 24 percent said they based their belief in the effectiveness of vaccines on advice from friends and family, while 25 percent said they would follow what health experts say. The participants’ responses indicated the liveliness of the information, as 23 percent believed that access to more information about vaccines could help build confidence.

When asked to get information and updates about vaccines, 59 percent of respondents marked the media as an important source, while 15 percent appeared to rely on government advertisements. About 13 percent of respondents said they depended on friends and family, while 11 percent cited other sources as a means of obtaining information.
However, most of the respondents supported the vaccines. But the survey also revealed that 18 percent of respondents still haven’t received a single dose, while 8.8 percent were not sure of getting the vaccine, and only 4 percent expressed their distrust of vaccines.
