A survey conducted in 21 states of the country has revealed that coronavirus antibodies have been developed in two-thirds of the population here. Madhya Pradesh leads with 79% antibodies, while Kerala is at the back with only 44.4% antibodies. It is a signified of concern that at present, Kerala has the highest number of infection cases in the country. They conducted this survey on about 29 thousand people between June and July this year, which shows that one-third of India’s population has antibodies against the coronavirus. This is the fourth sero survey of ICMR in 70 districts of the country. The level of antibodies in the blood serum of a population is called seroprevalence or seropositivity.

According to the survey, antibodies have been detected in 79 percent of the population of about 70 million in Madhya Pradesh. Corona antibodies have been found in 75 percent of the people in Bihar and 71 percent of the public of Uttar Pradesh. 76.2 percent in Rajasthan, 75.3 percent in Gujarat, 74.6 percent in Chhattisgarh, 70.2 in Andhra Pradesh, 58 percent in Maharashtra, and 50.3 percent in Assam. Antibodies have been found in the population. We have found antibodies in Kerala in the lowest 44.4 percent of the society.

However, at present, half of the total cases of corona coming out in India are coming from Kerala alone. ICMR’s serosurvey understood the spread of Covid infection at the national level. The results, therefore, do not show the diversity or diversity of seroprevalence between districts and states.

What is sero survey?

The test to detect antibodies in the blood serum of a population is called sero study or sero survey. If in this test the level of any antibody is found very high in a person, then it can be understood that person has already had an infection. This helps to monitor the presence and spread of the coronavirus.
