What will be the effect of mixing two vaccines in the ongoing war against coronavirus infection and whether it strengthens immunity to fight different variants of coronavirus, this question is coming into people’s minds time and again? Especially after the report of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the interest has increased that the results of combining the two vaccines have been better.
After this study by ICMR, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has also approved a study on mixing two vaccines. Under this, the dosage of Covaxin and Covishield will be mixed to see how safe and effective it is, as well as how much it strengthens the immunity in fighting the coronavirus infection?
What is ICMR research?
”Covishield, Covaxin combination elicits better immunogenicity than two doses of same vaccine, says ICMR study”
ICMR had done a study in Uttar Pradesh in which 18 people were mistakenly given Covishield and Covaxin in two different doses of the vaccine, based on which they said that it is not only safe but immunogenicity profile in such people. They also found it to be better than those who took only the first and second doses of Covishield or Covaxin.
Let us tell you that officially two different doses of the same vaccine are being given in the country. That is, if someone has got the first dose of Covaxin, then he will also get the second dose of Covaxin. If someone has taken the first dose of Covishield, then he will also feel the second dose of Covishield. In such a situation, DCGI has approved the study on the ‘mixing’ of Covaxin and Covishield. Where is it?
