In this survey, more than 9,000 citizens of 13 countries including 1,000 citizens of India were included. Among Indian car buyers, three out of 10 said they would prefer to buy an electric or hydrogen vehicle. Most of the respondents in India also said that they expect a driving range of 100 to 200 miles from a fully charged electric vehicle.
The survey also found that almost 90 percent of consumers in India are willing to pay a premium to buy an EV. “Consumers are willing to pay extra for the added value of being environmentally responsible,” said Vinay Raghunath, EY India Partner and Automotive Sector Leader.

About 67 percent of people who want to buy an EV also feel that it is their responsibility to reduce their personal environmental impact, while 69 percent believe that buying an EV is one way to achieve this goal. It is also true that air pollution is emerging as the biggest problem in the country and the world at this time.
