There is a large number of educated people in the total unemployed in the country and graduates are at the top. It has been revealed in this report of the Periodic Manpower Survey (PLFS) of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation. The survey was conducted between July 2019 and June 2020. The overall unemployment rate for all the states in the figures is 4.8 percent. The largest share in this is the unemployment of graduates at 17.2 percent. After this, 14.2% have been doing diploma or certificate courses. 12.9% of unemployed people who have studied post-graduate or more have been given information.

Out of the total figures for all the states, the unemployed making an increase of secondary or above is 10.1, and the educated unemployed pursuing higher secondary education is 7.9 percent. Delhi has 13.5 percent, Bihar 19.9 percent, Haryana 13.4 percent, Jharkhand 14 percent, Uttar Pradesh 15.6, and Uttarakhand 21.9 percent unemployed. The average educated unemployment is 5.1 in Bihar, 8.6 in Delhi, 6.4 in Haryana, 4.2 in Jharkhand, 4.4 in Uttar Pradesh, and 7.1 percent in Uttarakhand.

Talking about state-wise statistics, the condition of those pursuing diploma or certificate courses in Bihar, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand is much worse than in the rest of the country. In Bihar, up to 85 percent of those pursuing diploma and certificate courses are unemployed. Delhi has 14.6 percent, Haryana 13.1 percent, Jharkhand 24.7 percent, UP 21.2 percent, and Uttarakhand 22 percent unemployed.

According to government data, the unemployment rate in cities rose to 13.3 percent in July-September 2020 from 8.4 percent in the same period a year ago. It has revealed this in the Quarterly Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS), released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation. However, in the previous quarter April-June 2020 quarter, it was even higher at 20.9 percent.

According to the data released by the government, the unemployment rate was 9.1 percent in January-March 2020, 7.9 percent in October-December 2019, 8.4 percent in July-September 2019, and 8.9 percent in April-June 2019.

According to the data released by the Union Ministry on Monday, 15-29 years old youth were the most unemployed in the cities in July-September 2020. In July-September 2020, the urban unemployment rate for people aged 15-29 years stood at 27.7 percent, which was 20.6 percent in July-September 2019 and 34.7 percent in April-June 2020.

The unemployment rate for women stood at 15.8 percent in July-September 2020, which is 9.7 percent higher than the same period a year ago. However, in April-June 2020 it was at 21.2 percent. Talking about the unemployment rate for urban men, it was 12.6 percent in July-September 2020, which was 8 percent in July-September 2019, and 20.8 percent in April-June 2020.

According to the survey, the Labor Force Participation Rate was 31 percent in July-September 2020, compared to 36.8 percent in the same period a year ago. In April-June 2020, it was at 35.9 percent.

The Workforce Participation Rate stood at 32.1 percent in July-September 2020, which was 33.7 percent in July-September 2019. In April-June 2020, it stood at 28.4 percent.
